Did this book need to exist? Not really. It’s a run of the mill mafia-type romance with a main character whose eagerness to please some man she just met is astounding. The eagerness of most of the female characters to please men is astounding. The male main character is fine. Broody, withdrawn, with darrkkkk secrets. (Oooo. Ahhh.) The villains are obvious and mean just because they are. The writing is pretty good though, and the series does get better as it goes. There are definitely worse out there, but better too.
