It was an okay book. I didn't love it as much as the film. I have no desire to read the other stories in the series.
A solid 3 stars. Definitely not on the same level as Hunger Games or Divergent.
Dashner did a great job with the world building - I could picture the maze and the walls and the glade, but that's about it. The characters fell flat for me. Thomas was always on the verge of remembering something, or had a tinkling or feeling about something. About halfway through you could somewhat figure out what was going to happen, and I mean come on, it's a trilogy - so you know who isn't going to die. The ending was okay, again, something I could have predicted. These books try so hard to have a good cliffhanger for the next book. How about ya'll just write one big book and separate it into parts?
Defos not going to bother with the second book. Sorry Dashner.

I did not enjoy the author's style of writing and the plot was the only thing that kept me going (besides the fact that I wanted to finish the book before I go see the movie). I don't plan to continue this series mostly due to my frustration with the way that it was written. I don't think that I could make it through another one of his books, no matter how interesting the story may get. Hopefully, they'll make each book into a movie so that I can finish it that way!

Not what I was expecting but definitely a good dystopian
Absolute Page-turner. Great ending. However, I had my qualms with it. For example, James Dashner often told us how the characters felt as opposed to showing us, which really irritated me.
I'm thinking these type of books aren't for me, also I've not been a YA girly since I was a teen so I found a lot of these characters annoying, especially Thomas. I enjoyed the first half, even if Thomas assumed everyone was dumb even though he'd only been there 72 hours. He's 16, he'd be shitting it. While I knew this was a series, I thought I'd get my answers but I didn't and I'm not reading the second so.

i thought this book was so different from anything i’d ever read before which is why even though it didn’t hook me at first, i continued reading. i do wish there was more female characters though.
