I LOVED this series, and this was a great way to start it off!! This novel kept me on my toes and each twist really surprised and entertained me! The characters were all great for their own reasons as well. Definitely worth while!

Classic YA novel. A fun story but I hate how the ending is such a cliff hanger. Almost makes me watch to read scorch trials…ALMOST
I started reading this book simply because the title caught my attention. I wasn't going in comparing it to every other book. And I must say I rate this book a 4.5 - I absolutely loved the story! There were parts that just freaked me out and had me constantly guessing what was going to happen next. I also loved the girl - she wasn't some sleaze ball who slept with him twenty pages later and the whole story wasn't filled with some cheesy romance that's force fed to it's readers.
Cons - the writing style I felt like he could've tightened it up - reading the last part felt like I was reading a summery that was written by a 2nd grader. Also, while there were parts that I did not expect - at times it felt like he gave his story the easy way out or the situations made things to coincidental..
Overall I liked it and I would recommend it. Though if you're a twilight fan this might not be the book for you, no sparkling puppy sick love story here! Can't wait to continue the series!

Sort of reminded me of [b:Ender's Game|375802|Ender's Game (The Ender Quintet, #1)|Orson Scott Card|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408303130s/375802.jpg|2422333] without being anything like Ender's Game. A group of super smart kids stuck in a training program -esque environment where they are continually tested... Except it's not obvious that all of them are super smart or how they were chosen or what really happened.
