The story is incredibly predictable but it’s mindless enjoyment. The FMC can be quite irritating but luckily the supporting characters make up for it.

I like that the queer horror genre is growing. It’s not my favorite so I can’t claim to be an expert, but I enjoyed this book. It was a pretty quick read and didn’t bore me at any point. I do think it relied just a little too much on cliches and stereotypes, but I get that that’s the style it was going for. Some of the writing was stylish and witty, I liked the descriptions of the environment, but sometimes it was all just a bit much for me. I didn’t love the characters but there was some character development. The reader gets insight into quite a few of the “minor”characters, which I liked. If I have one complaint, it’s that I wish it was more fun. I know it’s horror and people die and that’s inherently not fun, but I know it can be done. There were some attempts any lighthearted or funny moments but it never lifted the book out of the bleak trenches.

What a great book! If I hadn't started it late at night I would have read it in one sitting - definitely unputdownable. Wendy and her friends and frenemies make for a rag-tag band who are odd, but believable. I love the big business is evil motto, and the sense of this being about pride not becoming a corporate thing.
Of course, zombies. Who doesn't want to read a really gay zombie book? The way these zombies were made was credible, and the detail in describing how they felt as their functions were shutting down, was poignant.
I love good horror, and this was comedy horror in the best way. It was by turns funny, grotesque and sad, with plenty of gore and some sex thrown in for good measure.
It's quite hard to believe that this is Lindsay King-Miller's first novel as it's so well-rounded and accomplished, but I will definitely be reading more of her work when I get the chance. Can't recommend this enough!

Although I’m still mad at Leah, and the ending is open-ended, this book is filled with realistic, loveable characters, great gore, great action, and a message of fighting for your community.
