Absorbing writing. Certainly view changing. The reader will learn a lot about the importance of trees and inadvertently come away with more dendrological knowledge than you intended. And still be entertained.
In the beginning the book seems like a series of separate unrelated vignettes. But do not worry, the author has a plan. There are themes that connect these stories together, that are at times quite heart-racing.
I had a hard time keeping some of the characters straight. I wished mightily for a guide or cheat sheet to the reappearing faces. I would suggest starting one for yourself.

The Overstory is full of truth seeking prose that cuts and flourishes with interweaving characters.
Amazing amazing amazing. Best book I’ve read in a long while.

Another reviewer (Lisa) said everything I wanted to say best. This book made me think and feel many things throughout, I don’t think I’ll ever look at trees in the same way again (which was already with awe).
There were a few things that confused me/made it harder to dive into the book: the different stories and trying not to forget them, Neelay’s storyline and what he built in the end is a complete mystery to me, a few passages in other character’s stories also seemed too poetic or ethereal for my understanding… some questions I’d like answered and will definitely look up online.

Couldn’t lock into the audiobook. Still have no idea what was happening even 5 hours into it. I’m sorry Richard.
