A slow burn to be sure. But the moody premises and looming climax keep you needing more! It’s like you’re on a roller coaster ride that’s slowly making its way up…. Approaching the point of no return before all the pieces of the puzzle are shot at you left & right!
I loved how expansive this was compared to other books I've read by Lapena, but I correctly guessed the culprit very quickly and it killed all of my motivation to continue.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ - fast paced gripping thriller
Shari Lapena delivers a fast paced thriller that’s hard to put down. The small town setting, shifting perspectives, and ghostly narration of the victim Diana add haunting depth to the mystery (but wish there was more of this throughout the book) . The pacing is relentless, with cliffhanger chapter endings and multiple suspects keeping me guessing. While I figured out the culprit too early, the emotional weight and portrayal of a town unraveling under suspicion still made it a gripping read. Overall a great read from this author as this is my first book by her and won't be my last.
