How come you have to go home so desperately, but you’ll happily drag Weena out of her time into yours, dude
The ending was positively remarkable, the opening not quite so much, but I respect it all over. Not my favorite classic (do I actually like Wells, or no? Maybe I don’t like Wells, maybe I like Verne a lot more), but I’m glad I read it. The parts I liked reminded me beautifully of the Myst novels, really excellent, but I feel like it was missing something, somehow. I respect what it is, for sure. Written in the 1890s, huh. I’ll have to think on that for a while.

I can see the influence this book has had on so many stories in our present. Specifically for me, 1q84 by Murakami and 999.

Reading classics isn't really something I do, so I was a bit concerned that this would go completely over my head. The language was easy enough for my brain to process though, despite its age, which was a surprise. It was pretty normal to follow during the sections of to-and-fro conversation at the start and end of the book, but it did lose my interest during the Time Traveller's really long monologue.

As my fourth book by Wells, this is probably my least favourite. I understand its impact at the time, but find his other novels much more engaging. I enjoyed the exploration of human existence, society and science but overall, I wasn’t completely immersed (which I have been in his other works.). This may be due to the volume of science fiction now available, and that I read a similar book about time travel which predates Wells’ novel, and engaged me more.
