absolutely gutted me. the last paragraph made me cry in the middle of my campus starbucks

A good slow burn read.

This book, first published in 1895 really surprised me with its depiction of time travel. The images that the text conjures up are still used in blockbusters in 2024. It's a good book, a good tale, exceptionally detailed and a perfect pace to take things slow for a while.

I'm very dyslexic so I tend to stay away from classics because I'm always worried I won't be able to follow the writing style but this was very easy to read.

The time traveller goes a stupid big number into the future and meets this new race of elf-like tiny people called Eloi who he quickly decides are super dumb. The second race are called Morlocks and he quickly decides he hates them and wants to violently murder then based on very little at all. I thought this said a lot about the writer, (I'm sure this is a book that's been analysed to death about all parts of it but I have purposely not read anything about it so please forgive my ignorance) so the writer thinks that no people could possibly get smarter than him and his gentlemen buddies and why does he want to beat this sub-race of people to death? is that a racial thing?

I hated this book. Usually I can find something about every book that I like, but this book was awful. It was short, but a pain to get through.
