I reread this book as an adult because I remembered reading it back in middle school and really enjoying it. I don’t think I enjoyed it as much the second time as I found it very slow moving and a little boring to be honest. I think the book could have been a lot shorter. I felt like the scenes just dragged on and on. I will still give the second book a chance though and see if I like it any better.

Incredibly wise beyond the plot. The way the author humanizes zombies and shows raw emotion and evolution within his characters made this a great read that I couldn’t put down. I hate zombie movies but can now say I love zombie books!

A different take on a zombie story. Here we find a new way to think about these poor, trapped former humans. Tom is more concerned about the gentle care of eliminating them than he is about his reputation. His little brother, Benny, doesn't respect him, assuming he's just a coward. But Tom is the true hero when he shows such sensitivity and respect. The journey takes a while, but Benny learns what it takes to be a true hero.

I read this book for my "not so YA" book-club.
I hate Zombies. They are my number one fear of dying. When I saw this was the pick for November, lets just say I didn't dive right in. I found the main character horribly annoying but by the end of the book, he was likable. There were great action scenes throughout the book freaked me out a bit. If Zombies are your thing, this is so the book for you.

If you enjoy zombie books you'll find this one interesting. It isn't just about killing and mayhem. This one looks at relationships within families and takes a look at social constructs and the theme of right and wrong.

Benny is kind of a whiney little ass to start.   Thankfully his attitude improves.  Lol
