"you're a little bit magic, aren't you, Daisy Haites?"
i will never ever get over this book. i think it actually altered my brain chemistry a bit to be honest. i've never been so immersed in a book series before. i say it every single time, but Jessa Hastings really is crazy talented. every single character in this book and every single thing that happens feels so real - it's incredible. i feel like these people are my friends and i'm going through it all with them. i think i'll be chasing this feeling in a book for the rest of my life.
what i loved with this book was that it took everything i adored in The Long Way Home and built upon it. every single aspect of the storyline was developed and intensified in the most perfect way. the relationships (both romantic and platonic), the setting, the context - everything was so well done. often in books you're told there's character progression but never actually see it progress and develop - characters are all of a sudden just 'changed' and it feels a little jarring. that doesn't happen here; every single character is developed slowly and realistically, and you as a reader can see those gradual changes in the decisions they make and the things they do. it's really beautiful to witness, bringing you that much closer to the characters and their experiences. i genuinely felt proud of them.
for me, the relationships in this book really stood out.

- At times felt less Daisy Christian and more Julian magnolia. Not that i mind, but it's their book and we saw a lot of J&M in TLWH. But also loved seeing it from Julian pov
- Magnolia and Christian friendship <3
- Christian only one looking out for magnolia eating - beej?? Julian???
- could obv see Julian pushing beej and magnolia together in TLWH but here you really see why and e lengths he was going to to make sure magnolia was safe :( I love him so much
- Daisy and magnolia friendship!!!
- God it makes you wish magnolia could love jules more than beej so much. Even though i was rooting for Bj at end of TLWH. Seeing from jules perspective hurts
- I want more daisy and Christian
- Tiller :( he was a dick at the end but i feel sad for him
- Love that magnolia buys dais clothes
- Magnolia protecting daisy from Vanna <3
- I know it's not. Know why it can't be. But i want it to be them so badly. I want it for jules and i want it for parks but i love parks and I want her to be safe and she can't be with Jules and then my heart breaks for Jules all over again
- Phrase proverbial sadness ?? Look up
- Would be five star but we knew the whole time magnolia and Julian would never work out and it made it sad to read. Also wanted more daisy and Christian !!! It was heavy on them in first half but then parks n Julian in second
- I'm glad Jules told magnolia he fucked the girl in front of her to help her and BJ get back together. Not the whole truth obviously but I couldn't stand the thought of her thinking he did it because he didn't care. He cares so much
- I can't believe Christian finds the ssx tape thing funny??? My heart just broke for dais having to read her thoughts while watching it, and he's laughing?? Fuck that
- Finally communication between them two!!! Thank the Lord
- Omg the plot in this last 20% has gone zero to 100
- Feel a bit sad Christian would leave all his friends and family. Obviously for Dais but that's his whole life and i wish he could stay with them all and have daisy too. Maybe there's still a way
- Jules loves her so much he thinks her and BJ might not work and i love him so much for that but im so sad that we all know it'll never work

Also wanted to throw this book across the room. Same timeline as the second book but with different perspectives and wow; the power of simple human emotion and love and relationships. Well written doesn’t even do it justice.
This woman really has a thing for gut wrenching cliff hangers let me tell you.
To my great surprise (not) Julian’s pov did absolutely nothing for me. Not because of him but because of Magnolia
