I love a good book that is a quick and easy flowing read! The plot sucks you in until you just can’t put the book down. I loved the main characters, and can’t help but wish this wasn’t a one-off book so I could get more of their happily ever after!

“To this world. To the next. To the people we meet between and the bonds we share.”

Luella has dedicated her life to the study of herbology and honing her craft to be her town's best and only healer. Dedicated not only to her work, but to each individual person in the town that she helps. The medicines that she crafted always seemed to have a magical effect and worked so well, but it was just her dedication.

Wasn't it?

Luella's world is flipped upside-down when the Elf King arrives to take his treaty promised human bride back to the magical lands of the elves. Her whole life becomes a lie as her gift was hidden from her by someone she trusts, now exposed and being taken unprepared for her role. When she is whisked away to this new land, she finds it dying and only she can be the one to save it. Stuck in a role she was unprepared for, Luella must find her powers to save this new land and those beyond.

A quick read that I fell in love with from the first page. The lead character is strong, bold, and determined. She doesn't let anyone push her around or tell her who to be. And the Elf King was a complex and interesting character. It was hard not to root for their romance from the start.

There were twists I didn't see coming, moments that devastated me, and times I couldn't stop smiling. I am glad for a happy ending in these tough times.

Very much Beauty and the Beast or Persephone and Hades with fantasy elf vibes.

The young healer of Capton, Luella, gets whisked away into the magical lands of Midscape as a part of a long held tradition that she unknowingly was born into. She is to be the human queen, married to the cold, unsympathetic elf king, Eldas. But as she learns more about her role as queen and grows closer to Eldas, choices pull at her from opposite directions.

It gets a spice score of 1.5. It has a single, vanilla, semi graphic sex scene. It is described on page, but with vague language as to anatomy and actions. It’s a little tame, but fine.

The first two thirds of this book were difficult for for me to get through. Lots and lots of info dumping, funky dramatic dialogue, repetition, and telling instead of showing. I was ready to sand paper my brain with the way everything was shovelled into my throat, spelled out, everything on page. I swear, I’m not that stupid. Pointing out the love interest being so handsome- incredibly handsome- the most handsome man she has ever seen, plus the constant nagging about her role as healer got so tiring, so quickly.

The last third was fine. It was brain rot, but fluffy and with a wolf. Willow was best boy honestly.
