“I suck in a breath. My eyes prick with tears, and I dip my chin. ‘You care about me?’ I ask. My voice wobbles, and I sniff. ‘A whole fucking lot?’
‘Yeah, Lacey girl,’ he says softly, and he tucks a piece of hair behind my ear. His thumb traces down my jaw, and my skin feels hot under his touch. ‘I do. Is that okay with you?’”
‘Yes.’ I nod. ‘That’s okay with me. I care about you, too.’”
-Lacey and Shawn (Ch. 15)

“Told you I know you like the back of my hand,” Shawn says softly, and my skin heats. “You want—you deserve someone who isn’t intimidated by your success. Someone who looks at you and sees all your wonderful accomplishments and lifts you up. Someone who isn’t afraid. Someone who knows you’re worth more than a million tons of gold. I hope you never settle for less than that, Lacey girl. Promise me you won’t.”
-Shawn (Ch. 28)

“Before we get going, I wanted to take a second to tell you how proud I am of you. You’re one of my favorite people in the world, Shawn, and getting to be here with you while you—we—do something so important means more to me than any gift ever will.”
-Lacey (Ch. 37)

“‘Maybe I shouldn’t have been so enthusiastic. It’s not that great.’
‘I doubt that. Everything with you is wonderful.’
That makes my heart jolt, too.
-Shawn and Lacey (Ch. 40)

“I chuckle and point to the lake behind the house. The water is frozen and the moon reflects off the ice, making everything white and gray. I point to the stars next, the dozens of constellations in the night sky.
‘This.’
‘Wow,’ she whispers, and I look down at her. ‘It’s beautiful.’
‘Yeah,’ I agree, but I’m busy studying every inch of her face. Her button nose. The slope of her jaw. The stars twinkling in her eyes. ‘It is.’”
-Shawn and Lacey (Ch. 40)

“‘And I would tell you I love you. Very much and very often, because I do. I do love you, Lacey. I don’t want to let you go just yet. Can I keep you a little while longer?’
My bottom lip wobbles. My hands tremble, and I sniff. ‘How much longer?’ I ask.
‘How does forever sound?’ Shawn asks. His lips pull up higher in the corners and his nose scrunches. Little wrinkles form around his eyes, and there’s so much joy on his face.
‘You want to be with me?’
‘More than I want anything else in this world, Lacey girl,’ he says, and my heart nearly bursts out of my chest.
-Shawn and Lacey (Ch. 46)

“I love how kind you are and how well you treat others. I love your love for your team, and I love your love for me. You make me feel like the most special girl in the world, every single day. I look at you, and my soul is happy. With you, my soul knows it’s safe. There are a lot of things I’d do over in life, but I’d choose you again and again.”
-Lacey (Epilogue)

This book was *chef's kiss* You see sports romances all the time, but usually it's a player that is the center of the romance. Chelsea gave us the coach in all of his cinnamon roll, faking dating, friends to lovers goodness and I cannot get over this book. The smoke between Shawn and Lacey was signaling passion and sex from the get go, but when it finally hit - GOL-LY they are hot together. Beyond the spice, I love the way they supported each other and built each other up. Shawn is the coach of a stellar football team and Lacey is a talented pediatrician fighting the glass ceiling. They both have their insecurities and worries and "not enough" moments, but they are a true example of being one another's perfect match.
funny lighthearted medium-paced

While this book was very sweet, something about it just didn’t do it for me. Maybe they were just too good at communicating? Not sure, it just didn’t suck me in like Chelsea curto’s other books, but overall it was still enjoyable

I loved Lacey and Shawn! One of my favorite fake-dating reads!

I had such a blast reading this book! The chemistry, tension, and banter between Lacey and Shawn was divine. The fake dating and friends-to-lovers tropes were both done incredibly well. The delightful fellas of the Titans + the deep friendship Shawn and Lacey had with Aiden and Maggie + Shawn's amazing family were all icing on the cake. The story does take place at Christmas but the holiday season is just a happy backdrop, so this book can be enjoyed any time of the year. This book can be read as a standalone (as I did), but I bet it would be extra good if read after Camera Chemistry. I know I am going back to read Camera Chemistry ASAP. Content Warnings: open-door scenes, panic attacks. Definitely recommend Caught on Camera for romance readers who love a bit of spice, sports romance, fake dating and friends to lovers.

Shawn is such a sweetheart! But boyyyy does he have a filthy mouth 🤣

I love this one! Lacey is great, but she's having terrible luck with dating, and her date refuses to take part in the Kiss Cam. So Shawn steps in 🤭

Another great book in this series!
