Der Roman thematisiert viele politische und sozial-relevante Themen und spricht den Lesenden direkt auf seine rassistischen Vorurteile und stereotypen Erwartungen an. Der Aufbau ist ungewöhnlich und es dauert etwas bis man sich in der Erzählung zurecht findet, ergibt aber für diesen Roman durchaus Sinn. Die vielen, stilistisch ungewöhnlichen Entscheidung, wie keine konkreten Jahreszahlen oder realen Ereignisse explizit zu benennen und Details über die Protagonistinnen dem Lesenden bewusst vorzuenthalten, machen „Die drei Kameradinnen“ zu einem spannenden Buch, aber haben mich persönlich teilweise auch verwirrt.
