Been a long time since I read Sand, so didn't remember much about the characters and what happened. I remember that I liked it though. This book not so much. It was slow and not much of interest happened, people just traveled around in small groups. Most of the book felt like a buildup for some kind of big happening, and the end felt really rushed and anticlimactic.

What a sequel! I loved this one more than the first, which doesn't happen often for series books! The expansion of characters and story was so exciting. Highly recommend!

This series is confusing to me.  I like the ideas, I like the world building, the characters have their merits.  But maybe the way they all tie together is what is keeping me from really loving these books.  This story picks up right after the end of the first book.  Vic has blown up the mining camp, only furthering issues between the two groups of people.   ...And then all the characters just mull around, fight back and forth and nothing terrible drastic happens?  Once again, I'm having a hard time figuring out what isn't working for me, because so many pieces of the book are cool.  Maybe the world building is in depth, but in all the wrong ways.  I feel like I had more questions asked than answered.  In the end, I still liked it, but I didn't love it.

Started strong, but a third of the way through the book I found myself getting bored—too many characters wandering around without a cohesive plot. Never did figure out the story arc.
