the first half of this book was rough for me. i did enjoy the beach read, mystery aspect of the second half, but it was so completely disjointed. it wasn’t awful or anything, but it definitely wasn’t my favorite, and i’m glad i only spent 50 cents on my copy

This book surprised me; it wasn’t what I expected. For about the first half, I couldn’t figure out what it was about, but then the mystery starts at part 2. From there I was hooked. The plot be twisting!! It’s a beach read — but a great one!

Big Summer? Not sure the title is appropriate, barely any summer theme involved. Main theme is influencer/mean girl culture so I think that was my first negative, the title being misleading. Secondly I listened to this on audio as well as reading and WHO gave this narrator a job? Her pronunciation of words drove me crazy- some words like “cotton” come across as “cod-done” and then other words (mainly food of foreign origin) came across with a pretentious pronunciation like “croissant” she would use the actual French accent/pronunciation. The biggest complaint though is that this story itself was okay over all at best. Nothing amazing, nothing inspiring, nothing shocking, just, good.

Big Summer wasn’t what I was expecting. I loved some parts and some were so far fetched that I was just shaking my head. The whole Scooby Doo detectives lost me a bit, but I loved Supper Sunday’s! Overall, it’s a fun read.
