This was a really great book to listen to as an audiobook. Fast paced with a lot of twists that keep you intrigued. Some things I had to suspend my disbelief for more than I would have liked, but overall a good mystery thriller novel.

Good audiobook, though as usual that means certain phrases grate on my ears ("broke her wide open" comes up a lot towards the end...). I appreciated the fast pace (less than nine hours) and frankly novel UNtwist of no shitty love plot involving the Marshal. Based on how angry Bailey was about some things earlier, it was a bit of a surprise how quickly she came around at the end, but I feel like when you have to wrap up a plot like this, you do expect the reader to make certain concessions or intuitive leaps. A refreshing change of pace in my TBR.

This book was good! I think there wasn’t a ton of depth to the characters, but I liked the story and the twists and turns and how Hannah unveiled so much. The part with the college professor was cool. I was also so touched by Hannah’s dedication to becoming a good parent to her stepdaughter when she didn’t have to in the first place, but she clearly cared SO much for Bailey. It was so cute. Also, the husband was either the whistle blower or he was involved somehow for sure. I wonder if he’ll ever come back. And the storyline of Bailey’s mom and her family and how the husband betrayed them was really interesting. So I think this book was good for sure, but I think it lacked some more depth that created a deep attachment from the reader to the characters.

Perché è in fuga?
