I couldn't finish this book...at all. I read ahead (yes, I'm that person) and I can't really stomach this kind of smut. This is some male fantasy bullshit, I can't see that women are really into being sexually assaulted...I guess there may be some who think this is all they're worth, but I can't imagine there are enough. I like smut, but this is just straight up porn shit. It's gross.

Love the spice but could have been better if there was more background to the other characters.

TLDR: Sheltered, almost-18 year old woman, newly orphaned by neglectful parents, must move in with estranged "Step Uncle" and his 2 sons. Grooming, cringe, verbal abuse, SA, ick and all other flavors of unseemly circumstances ensue. Young woman, ultimately failed by every adult in her life, almost ends up ok but in the end, understandably based on circumstances, chooses poorly for herself after all. The end.

I know this book will not be everyone's cup of tea and that's ok. But........

I absolutely loved this book! It lives rent free in my head and always will!

This was the first book I read of Penelope Douglas after hearing so many people raving about it. Not gonna lie, I wasn't sure if it was for me when I read some of the reviews, the triggers etc. Boy! I am glad I read it. I fell hard into this book and devoured in 3 days. I would love a second book to this because damn, it would be immense!

From the moment I started reading it I was hooked, from Tiernan arriving on Chapel peak after losing her parents. I was soooooooo interested in Uncle Jake, Noah, and Kaleb. Especially when I realised they were not related by blood. This book is an emotional rollercoaster with the twists and turns.

The ending....I cried! The way this story unfolded, Tiernan and the guys getting a happy ending. This book has the perfect amount of spice, is dirty, taboo, and gritty. A book has never made me drop my jaw, but this certainly did!

Penelope Douglas can write. She writes in a way that any reader could understand and keeps it relatable. I honestly felt like I had a front row seat in Chapel peak with all of them. I’m so happy it began and ended at the peak, with all of them.

I have read this book a couple of times now and will no doubt read it again and again. If I am in a book slump, this is my go to book to get me out of it. I beg PD to write a sequel, pretty please!. Buy this book! You will not regret it! nSeriously, you won't.

I have never felt compelled to leave a review for a book until now. I was nervous to read this book after seeing such mixed reviews about its content. I recently discovered Penelope Douglas and made quick work of both Punk 57 (which I liked) and Birthday Girl (which I loved). Credence was definitely not an easy read due to the heavy topics and taboo relationships, but I couldn’t put this book down!! It was emotional and dark and intense and quite honestly one of the most heartfelt and genuine romances I’ve ever read. This story provides an emotionally raw visual of loving fiercely and unapologetically.

I would not recommend someone read this without reading the content warnings first!
