This book was fine, it was a cute middle-grade fantasy novel. HOWEVER, it was not Howl's Moving Castle. When a book as good as Howl's Moving Castle is written, it should be a standalone. There was never a chance for any sequel to measure up to the original.

It's great, but as a sequel to Howl's Moving Castle I would have liked to see more of Sophie and Howl than we did.

I was a little disappointed when I started reading this because for some reason I assumed it would pick up where Howl's Moving Castle left off but this started out with totally new characters, setting, etc. I wasn't like super interested in the story either for most of the book I was just trying to finish it since I paid for this book lol
I was excited though when Sophie and Howl and everybody ended up being in the second half of the book. I think it's hilarious that Howl got turned into a genie in a bottle and how he was purposely making the wishes go wrong because he hates everyone. Also Calcifer as a magic carpet was pretty funny.
I definitely appreciated all the tie ins to Howl's Moving Castle and it made my heart happy to know that Howl and Sophie and Lettie and Suliman got married
