3.5 stars - Kathryn Nolan writes beautiful imagery and excellent sexual chemistry. This story involved insta lust of surprisingly well paired strangers, and required both to work through emotional baggage before finding out if they have a future together. The chapters were very short and while the beginning felt slow, it picked up and caught my interest pretty quickly. I found the characters authentic and intriguing - I was rooting for them. Family and friends played a role that was perfectly balanced in support of our two main characters. Josie’s free spirit is a little more tell than show, but just slightly. Gabe seemed too good to be true. I’d call him a cinnamon roll hero. The background setting of Big Sur and its community of residents really worked for me. If you like great writing, a strong-willed woman, and a romantic man, this is a solid pick. I’ll be reading more from this author.

Tattooed Vixen and the Sexy Viking!!

Gabe and Josie! Wowza! Holy Smokes! Leave it to Kathryn Nolan to send kindles into overheat mode! When Gabe becomes the sexy submissive and begs Josie to let him please her--I melted, swooned, fanned!! Holy Tacos!! And when they finally get skin-to-skin for the first time--Holy Torpedos!!

I simply love the way Kathryn Nolan explores human sexuality in her contemporary romances! Her openness and creative approach to sex and romance just blows my mind. Every. Single. Time. In her stories, women are free to be sexual beings without the stigma of being considered what most deem as an unacceptable way for women to behave. What's also amazing about her writing is that her characters still have the normal hang-ups just like anybody else about love, sex, romance, and the happy ever after.

I found Kathryn from Jessica Peterson's email list, and wow! Kathryn does not disappoint! I have been hooked on her books ever since! Josie and Gabe were amazing! Josie is such a strong woman and goes after what she wants in a relationship. Gabe is settled in Big Sur, but one storm changes everything! Their journey together is amazing, and everyone should read this book!

I enjoyed the story but the ending was so abrupt...

not that much femdom compared to some other stuff I've read. but also not a fan of the idea of
“The One,” and “Do the gesture. Ask her to stay. There’s no way she won’t love it.”
cus I'm just not that kind of romantic

Featuring the secondary characters from Bohemian and set during the same time period as that book, this is a lovely, lyrical, and sexy as all get out book featuring a heroine coming to terms with her dominant nature and the hero is longing for it.

Loved makeup artist Josie's backstory, her grit, and her very real reasons for being scared of commitment. Josie's ex gas-lit her for years, emotionally abused her, and then left her with no warning at the altar. She's had a rough road to finding herself but with the help of her best friend and client, the beautiful model from Bohemian, Josie is finally getting there. Her life in LA and the support of her Mexican-American family also are totally there for her.

Enter her ultimate fantasy, the sexy, hirsute, bearded lumberjack Gabe Shaw. He owns the local bar in Big Sur that Josie and her fellow coworkers on the photo shoot frequent while in town, and he is immediately entranced by the beautiful Josie.

Josie agrees to a one-night stand, but after getting trapped in Big Sur by a natural disaster, Gabe and Josie continue their exploration of their attraction, Josie's dominance, and Gabe's willingness to submit.

When neither seem willing to relocate, will this new romance be dead on arrival, especially when it seems Gabe may be a bit too all in, too soon?

The writing was well done, but unfortunately the main couple and the premise were not my cup of tea.
