What a fantastic debut novel! Ink is the first book in a trilogy and I just cannot wait to read the next offering from Alice Broadway.

In Saintstone where this novel is set each citizen's life events and actions are represented by a tattoo. When a person dies their skin is made into a life book and when they die their life is weighed and judged.

Leora wants to be an Inker, but after the death of her father, she soon discovers that things in her life are not what they once seemed. A lot of the story revolves around her father's life book and her discovery of who he was.

Blanks, people who do not carry tattoos on their skin are seen as a threat to society and Leora has always been warned against them but then she begins to discover an unexpected connection to them and everything she once believed is brought into question.

Ink is a gripping story, beautifully written with rich storytelling. Roll on book two and the next instalment!

It was OK. I loved the premise, but I think this was definitely aimed at younger readers. Some YA novels can be read by adults and it reads OK, but this wasn't one of them. I think my pre-teen son would love it though.

The storyline was very slow, but I did love the book in many ways. Can't wait to read the sequel to this since the end was so freaking good but also left me with many questions!
