A great classic.

I loved getting the story from the wolf's perspective. Very excellent strategy, and much more satisfying, I have to say, than the second book in the series. Of course, that might just be because I love the wolves the best. Excellent messages about the balance of an ecosystem, and how humans and wolves can live together in peace.

I read this over and over and over again as a child. I loved getting to see the dynamics of the wolf pack.

It was a bit wierd, but worth it in the end.

Julie's story continues, but this time told thru the eyes of the powerful wolves. Lovely.

The parts about wolf behavior were interesting, but I'm not a huge fan of books from the perspective of animals (at least not the way Jean Craighead George does it). I remember picking up Frightful's Mountain and being disappointed about the book being from Frightful's point of view (although I'm not against trying to pick it up again).

SUM: We follow Julie as she adapts to life with her father and step-mother, as her little brother Amaroq is born, and as Julie's relationship with Peter grows. With Amaroq the wolf killed by hunters, Kapu takes over as alpha of his pack.

REV: Excellent sequel to the first book. Plenty of new information about Julie, so we get to stay close to a character we've grown fond of. Love the developing relationship between her and Peter.
