Sarr's novel treads the tightrope between the compelling entertainment of a mystery novel and the intellectual and emotional depth of a 'literary' novel with such ease, its impossible to not be won over by it. It explores colonialism, identity, and the limits of literature as we follow Diégane's quest to uncover what happened to a celebrated African author who disappeared after a literary scandal in France. A really fun read, I found it nearly impossible to put down over the last couple weeks. Strongly recommended.

El final me ha dado todo muy igual dentro de todo lo de etimene uff mucho texto y además se ha convertido sin mi consentimiento en una historia de nazis... bueno pero me estaba gustando tiene aspectos muy interesantes  y me hace mucha gracia como se mete cin las novelas metafísicas siendo esta misma una de ellas pero es una buena novela.metafisica si se entiende.

Sharp satire, excellent writing, stylistically rich and unique, a compelling literary mystery-adventure taking readers through the 1880s to the present day, from Senegal, to France, to Argentina. There is a lot going on here and it is masterfully done. This book is a revolution of African literature and a roast of Francophone colonial literature.
