I feel like we never got to the core of Emer the way we did with Jude and Zara, which hurts the book rather tremendously. However, the body horror/gore is very well done, the message is solid, and of course the moment when a vegan witch hunter being called out for being a hypocrite said “I don’t consider human blood an animal product” made the whole experience very much worthwhile.

I thought I was done with YA but then something like this comes along and proves me wrong. I loved the characters — each pov was unique and interesting, all of em
flawed in their own way. The story was immensely satisfying to read. Highly recommend!
