Love books about female rage and this one was oozing with it out of every decaying crevice. I adored the story, the mystery, the writing and the characters. Their found family of 3 misfits whose stories intertwined was just perfect. The relationships, the banter, the feeling of wanting to be loved and seen, they were all so stunning. I enjoyed reading each one of their stories and loved that the mystery kept your guessing till the very end.

Na House of Hollow van Krystal Sutherland te hebben gelezen, en daar helaas niet zo'n fan van te zijn geweest, was ik een beetje sceptisch over dit boek en of dit wél iets voor mij zou zijn. Maar hé: hij stond al op mijn TBR, dus ik wilde hem in ieder geval proberen.

En wat ben ik blij dat ik dat heb gedaan! Dit boek vond ik stukken leuker: het had voor mijn gevoel veel meer plot, was veel minder een 'fever dream' en was vooral een heerlijk bloederige horror.

Hetgeen wat ik wel jammer vond is het feit dat dit boek echt alle mannen afschildert als slechteriken. Ik snap dat het een female rage verhaal is, maar daarbij hoeft niet het hele mannelijke geslacht direct zwart gemaakt te worden. Een beetje wat veel mannelijke fantasy schrijvers te horen krijgen over hun vrouwelijke personages, had ik hier tegenovergesteld. En dat was jammer.

Verder absoluut een aanrader als je zin hebt in een gruwelijke, bloederige en bovenal paranormale horror.

The writing is overly repetitive, constantly using different synonyms. It reads like an essay written just to meet a minimum character count yk, anyway, not for me
