I am reading this after Krystal Sutherland's House of Hollow and was hoping for another masterpiece but alas. This book was a pleasant waste of time. I liked it well enough but wished it had more depth. I found the switch between the three characters thoughts a little hard to follow at times. The ending was much too nice and neat for me and Emer's realized life purpose of killing predator men felt rushed and less personal than I would have liked for the story and her character. I also don't understand why if you decide you need to protect women from witch hunters you then spend months farming in a house with no water or electricity instead of going out and finding women to protect..but I suppose it painted a romantic picture of a natural forest witch life.
.
I loved Savans character and bloodlust it created a very beautiful final battle scene. And the villain reveal caught me by surprise!

While I enjoyed House Of Hollow better than this one, I still liked this, supernatural thrillers can be a little confusing for me and I do think this one was a bit confusing in places but overall I enjoyed the story and I think it has some important things to say

Every line it was. Jude. Jude. Jude. Jude it just wasn't for me
This started off as an excellent listen for me - I loved Kit Griffith's narration and found myself quickly immersed in this world of curses and demons. I preferred Emer and Zara's characters, not really liking Jude much. I found her quite annoying, trying too hard to be edgy and rebellious. I appreciated the lgbt+ rep, but I just wished I liked the character.
It's clear that there are a lot of feminist themes going on, perhaps too many, as they seemed to cloud one another. I feel that sticking to just one or two would have been clearer and more linear.
I liked the ending, but by that point, I'd lost some of the enthusiasm I had at the beginning. It's a decent read, but I think my dislike of one of the main characters impacted my overall enjoyment. I also feel that for the length of the audiobook (almost 14 hours) not much actually happens for the middle part. This contributed to my loss of interest by the end.
Overall, I'd rate this 3 stars. I loved the witchy vibes, but the characters and plot didn't work for me.
