One of the best writers of our time. This book is poetry because of Hosseini’s beautiful style of writing. It will tear your heart in half like The Kite Runner did.

Hosseini's writing always has a poetic feeling to it, I would say this book is of course more "enjoyable" than The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns if only because our characters are not subject to the same amount of violence. This story is more.. Floaty? The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that the ending feels too much like ATSS.

i started crying at page 54 and then i just couldn’t stop everything hosseini writes is utterly beautiful. i loved all the stories and how they wove into one another, i loved the exploration of youth and age and family and love. i can’t get over the way everything intertwines i feel like i’ve been given a gift but i’ve also been devastated.
the bit with adel was so well done but i feel is slightly lost just because of the magnitude of the main stories like you read it from the child’s perspective but you recognise the truth that his father’s a war criminal and his acceptance of his own acceptance of it if that makes sense it was absolutely agonising
i loved everything about it i feel like rereading it again immediately i just can’t stop thinking about it. just amazing and sensitive and brutal and everything under the sun i want to say thank u to khaled hosseini for writing this book tbh <3
