One of the best writers of our time. This book is poetry because of Hosseini’s beautiful style of writing. It will tear your heart in half like The Kite Runner did.

Khaled hosseini is one of my favourite authors, I have read everything he's put out. He masterfully creates emotional stories that put the Afghan people at the forefront, showing us their culture and ways of life.
I love that the book had multiple povs, I found each story engaging. However I found that there were almost too many different stories intersecting, anytime a pov started I would get into it and then suddenly the pov changed and we don't get to hear about what happens next. I was listening to the audiobook and when the povs changed, I found myself listening and trying to figure out who's pov it was. Took me out of the story a little.

The ending is bittersweet,
Abdullah and Paris find each other, but Abdullah has succumbed to dementia and doesn't recognise her

The moment Nabi wrote his letter this book became something completely different for me and it stayed like that till the end of it. I liked all these character lines interconnected, all these parallels between two sisters and cousins, mothers’ images, painful separation from parents, and just overall different life stories, too often hard and having sad endings. I wish I knew till the end the story of Iqbal’s son and his rich friend, and I wish I saw Pari helping him out with what she inherited. But it would definitely be too of happy end style. Anyways, it was undoubtedly good.

 “Out beyond ideas
of wrongdoing and right doing,
there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.”

The author was experimenting with his writing style, and I kinda vibed with it.

I’m always happy to pick up a Khalid Hosseini novel and I’m glad to say I loved this one as well BUT it just fell flat for me compared to the kite runner and a thousand splendid suns

A brilliantly crafted book, drawing together different strands to build a story with two siblings from Afghanistan at its core. I found every strand interesting in isolation and each helped to understand a different aspect of the whole story, including the reasons behind certain characters' actions and mentalities. Moving without being excessively tragic with little flourishes that added tenderness.
