This is my first Harper Bliss book and if all of her work is written like this, I'm hooked. The reading was so smooth when I thought about checking where I was, thinking somewhere in the 1st quarter, I realised I was already almost in 70% and felt a bit sad as the ending was so close. But now I can check more of her books.

Another aspect of this book that I liked very much, in addition to the writing style and pace/development, was the outcome:
SpoilerGiven my book choices this year, it was nice to read a short romance where no one is screaming I love you in a few weeks after meeting not that I think this is a problem since I like these stories all right.
It's just that is nice to read, once in a while, something different for a change, something that I personally find more realistic together with the overly dramatic drama free plot, which I appreciated very much, yes.

And last, I don't know if I am too silly and laugh with anything (well, am too), but I had some hard laughs throughout the whole bloody reading and for me that's a BIG plus to any story. I love the love in everything, but love without laugh I is a teeny bit subpar to its potential.

Love a good age gap romance!!!

I've read a few Harper Bliss books and every time I read one I wonder why I don't read more of hers! Her writing is fantastic and I really enjoy her story lines. Helen and Rory were fabulous. Rory was just a wonderful character and I loved her tenacity. Really enjoyed this series as a whole. Each author did a great job bringing this village and its characters to life.

Usually Harper Bliss is a good book but not this time.

I love the whole age gap thing and a teacher/student fic is right up my alley. But this one really disappointed me.
There’s no spark, no emotional connection, the sex scenes aren’t something to write home about, the book is very superficial and light, and in my opinion; easily forgettable.

That being said, if you’re looking for something light to read in between your heavier books this is a good alternative. It’s short, you don’t have to think much, very little emotion in it and superficial

Part of the Village Romance series so some of the characters are familiar but can certainly be read standalone. In this story Professor Helen of pub quiz fame is planning a career change - she's been writing cosy mysteries under a pseudonym.
