This gave me so many vibes to the underrated show the lost room. That involved people trying to find a key and different items from the room but this one was a map and trying to get to the place on the map. Similar vibes though. Both had the dad and the daughter as the focus. I liked the writing a lot and the discussion of how old map makers used to put phantom islands or cities on the maps to see if anyone was copying their works.

This was an enjoyable read, moved quickly. I chose it based on the description and the concept. I like maps so thought it would be an interesting subject - was interested in the academic side of it. On those fronts it delivered. But the ending… I just couldn’t get over the plot holes. I feel like I have at least 3 alternative plans that didn’t mean one woman being alone in a town for literally 30 years. So, that was a bit of a letdown but I did enjoy and finished in basically 24 hours.
