Her books are really hard to put down. Which is probably why I'm willing to turn a blind eye to stuff that would normally make me wild...like flat out mixing up the Central District and Rainier Valley, and inventing "Spanish" names out of thin air (um, "Madelina" is really NOT a name).

I got this as a super-cheap Kindle book, and I'm glad I did. I've never read anything by J.A. Jance before, and I could really use a fresh, decent writer of cop stories.
I'll be going back to the beginning of this series.

I was really excited to start this book, but when I started it.. it just seemed to drag along. It took me 3 or 4 days to get to page 22; now that's saying something. It was good, just I don't know, it couldn't hold my interest for very long. I would've loved to have finished it, just I don't have that much time to read, and I've got a ton of books waiting to be read, so it's back on the library shelf, waiting for someone who'd actually WANTS to read it :)

A fine addition to the JP Beaumont series. Sometimes though the series shows its age with the language and stereotypes in the books. This one had more of that than typical, I felt.

Book #23 read in 2016

All the different storylines connected perfectly. I really enjoy this series!

Another in the J.P. Beaumont series. This one is about criminals who released from prison having served their time and then die soon. Some of the deaths seems fairly likely, but several are definitely suspicious and at least one is cold-blooded murder. Interesting take on the subject of child sexual abuse.

Read it as a standalone. No issue understanding where the main character was mentally standing.
A good read. You could tell as you read where some things were going and in some cases it was a little frustrating that the detectives weren't making the connection fast enough for me.
Personally thought that Melanie was shouldering too much of the mental charge by always reminding J.P. of stuff he had to do and sometimes even stepping in for him. The character paints her a little too much as if she's a god and he could never be like her when really he could (though I agree that following some events of the book, he most likely is not in a mental state to do so).
