Good story. Gives a different perspective on what it’s like after being kidnapped and returning home.
Was it far fetched? Yes. Was it predictable? A bit. But it was still a good story and kept me interested and entertained. It reminded me of an episode of Criminal Minds... a little ridiculous but still fun to watch. And the author can write well, I look forward to more of her books. Narrator was great.

Crazy good thriller - I was reading so fast that I might have forgotten to blink at times. I love the main character and her transformation into a strong survivor. Some parts hard to read, but seemingly needed to be in there. I am looking for the one after this in the series. (I NEVER read books out of order, but was desperate for a Kindle read one night...)
4.5⭐️ enjoyed the book and the writing style, easy to read and visualize the story and its characters. Lisa Gardner is one of the authors I enjoy reading and buying books from.
Fantastic book! She gets you so hooked and you can’t put the book down! You get attached to the characters so quick! Unfortunately after I was 300 pages in, I found out it was the 8th book in the series. So time to go back and start from book one! And can’t wait to hopefully have more Flora going forward once I get up to book 9!
I had a difficult time reading Jaycee Dugard's first book because it was so emotionally heartwrenching. For the same reason, I've put off reading Elizabeth Smart's book despite wanting to read it. This one, being fiction, is somehow easier to read, despite the fact that sex trafficking really is a huge problem. Hopefully, this book will help bring awareness to the issue.
What did I think? I thought this was a dark and gritty book and actually had to step away from it a few times and that was before I got into the real point of this book: a survivor will do what they have to do to survive. And boy howdy!
Flora was held against her will for 472 days. And lived to tell about it. Five years later, other women are disappearing and Flora wants to put an end to it. When one such vigilante mission goes array, Flora meets Detective DD Warren, a popular character in Gardner's books. In fact, this was the 8th book in the series.
Is this a stand alone? Some say yes, I say I'm not sure. There were passages that mentioned other seemingly big cases so perhaps I need to go back and start over.
But back to this book: a survivor will do anything to not be a victim again, including survive. Gritty, dark, and very engaging.

Reminds me a lot of the Rizzoli and Isles series. Loved it nonetheless!
