Disclaimer - I'm biased, this is written by one of my best friend's who dedicated the book to me for my wedding.

Historical romance set in a more unusual setting than among the ton of London or Bath. Laura captures the imagination with her descriptions of Huria's desert kingdom. I really liked the descriptions of Rachel's interactions with the children in this - gave a good depth to the story.

This is such a lovely book! I would describe it as "Mary Poppins meets The King and I." I love that not only is it a Regency romance, but it follows a woman who becomes governess to the royal children of a fictional Middle Eastern country, providing a nice change of setting. Rachel is a woman who grew up with parents who had a tempestuous relationship with each other, and largely ignored her, so she has decided not to marry and experience bringing up children as a governess. She accepts a position caring for the children of the Sheik of Huria, and in the process bringing happiness to all their lives.
The characters are all so nuanced and likeable. Rachel is a wonderful heroine, determined to put the children's happiness before her own. Malik deals with learning to love, after a lifetime of endless duty. And as is the case with many governess stories, the children steal the show, especially little dragon-loving Hakim.

Rachel Talbot has dreams of travelling and now she has a chance with a job as governess to a sheikh.

Insufficient culture clash.
