With being book eight, we use what we've come across in the universe. As many things move forward, somethings go backward. Jared and many others are moving forward in the battle against AI's and preparing. They need the scepter to open vaults, as do others in another universe. They move forward with living their lives and against the AI's, but something Jared dealt with before has surfaced to be his obstacle again, along with the dangers they face in their battle.

Ugh. We end on a cliffhanger ending. Things aren't resolved at the end and there are several huge things happening here. It feels like there is so much more to happen, and it'll be all action. I want it!! I've seen the next book is out, so I'll have to get to it to resolve what we have here. I'm hoping it ties in with this ending as I really want to know!

Well, considering the way the last book in The Empire of Bones Saga ended I though I had pretty much figured out what this books was going to be about. Silly me! Instead the author starts the book off with a rather large and rather surprising plot twist. I at least did not see that one coming.

So instead of the expected continued adventures of my favorite heroin I got the new continued adventures of my favorite heroin…kind of. Confused? Well that’s too bad but there’s no way I am going to spoil that little surprise before you have read the book. Actually, I had made a note or two while reading but pretty much anything I write about the plot will end up being a spolier.

So, what is left to say then? The book is, not surprisingly, written in the same style as the previous books which means that it is a good, solid piece of military science fiction. It has well done characters, a good story, good (and believable) action and, believe it or not, despite the initial twist the story is actually advancing in a coherent way.

I cannot wait to see how everything will be tied together in the end. I hope that the next book will contain some of the bits, particularly what happened to Kelsey on the wrong side of that flip point, that I thought would be present in this book but I can also see that there are plenty of room for the story in this book to evolve before that happens.
