Great book to use for problem/solution - and to show that sometimes the solution is not always the expected one! Love Pham's illustrations!

A clever and kind mouse slowly gives away his gift and amasses a collection of odd items that are used in unexpected ways.

This is another repeating-pattern book, which is a trend in the books that my nieces really like. Duly noted.

The story was a bit pointless, but I liked the retro illustrations!

This book certainly kept me guessing. I predicted how the first half would play out, but the second half was a lovely surprise. This could spark interesting discussions with kids about kindness and the unexpected results it can yield, as well as the power of ingenuity.

A cute little story, has a lot to say about helping each other. Great classroom connections here about anticipating what should happen as the expected outcomes of each encounter do not go as expected.

Reading this to a small group of early elementary students was great fun. They loved guessing what Mouse might trade for his cake, (I loved hearing what they thought!). And after the cake was gone, the kids had an even better time figuring out how he and Bird were going to rectify their cake-less Birthday situation.

LeUyen Pham's illustrations do not disappoint here, with cheerful and friendly animals depicted throughout this story.

This book is great! At first you think it is formulaic, but it is creative and unexpected! A great choice for a STEM or STEAM preschool storytime, or just to encourage creative thinking! Adorable illustrations too.

I had no idea where this story was going to go when my daughter and I started it - but the ending was so clever. And of course LeUyen Pham's illustrations are gorgeous.

Cute book about sharing and the benefits of sharing. The pictures were amazing, but the storyline didn't do much for me.
