Just finished rereading the first three on the series and I lost interest in the story line.

Origin story of the Tripods. Interesting but only if you like the original Tripod series.

Good story. Glad I read it after the trilogy (not before).

I'm on page 68 of 160 of When the Tripods Came: ...thinking at 43 I may be too old for YA literature. I'm forging ahead to see if I might want to read it to my daughter. Being written by a British author ( I think) and being dated, it's a little annoying to read. It might be good for her, but it also might just be tiresome to explain what hearing "a car draw up beside the house" means etc. etc.

I read the original trilogy as a child and only found the prequel recently. I really enjoyed it and it's made me want to read the trilogy again.

A whiny teenager and tripods. Again. Interesting origin story but the author writes the same, whiny, headstrong teen in every book.

A very interesting prelude to the Tripods series. How did the Tripods conquer humanity? This books answers that question, and it's fascinating and horrifying to see.
