This is a relatively short read. And I was somewhat worried when I started this because I’ve see. Such mixed reviews for this. I really enjoyed Mister Magic and I like amusement park horror/thrillers so figured with it being under 300 pages, it would be easy to read

There are 14 “main” characters and it may seem somewhat overwhelming but for how this book works, I feel that the description of the 14 fits and makes it easier to remember what each character’s “core” was

I actually really enjoyed the mystery of what the horror was, and there even seemed to be a bit of cosmic horror sewn into it

Honestly the fact that Linda sees the 14 as selfish, lazy and good for nothing really shows her disconnect with the people they had chose for the season. Each character, while yes chose to take the deal for their own reasons, they all (except maybe Jayden) had a good reason to have taken the deal. They want to make friends, maybe this’ll help me get a job, wanting to help the person they can’t help anymore. It’s really a sad irony being stuck so far in the past that she never really looked towards the younger generation

Wow um…yay commentary? Anyways, if you’re looking for a short read, I definitely recommend this

4.5. Very fun twist!!!! Love it. Normally not a fan of head hopping but the author pulled it off very well.

Its also a wierd little retelling of the minatour in the labyrinth! It sort of tricks you at first, into thinking its more of a thriller, but the supernatural horror elements were done so well i dont mind the stray from concept all that much.

"Fourteen competitors. Seven days. Everywhere to hide, but nowhere to run."

Hide takes places at an abandoned amusement park where contestants compete against each other in game of hide and seek. Only, don't get caught. The goal is to stay at the park for a week and not be found; the winner will receive a cash prize of $50,000.

I was really starting to enjoy this book all the way up until the competition started. The buildup was interesting and was giving me Squid Games vibes and I was excited.  And then the game starts and literally it's just these characters doing nothing but hiding and reflecting on their past.

Slowly, people start disappearing one by one and we don't get a reveal until the very end. It felt so hard to to connect to these characters because they were all assholes and maybe that was the point, but I did not feel anything for them. I didn't see a need for a romance to happen in the middle of this book, but it was painfully obvious in the first few chapters what was going to happen.

Unfortunately, Hide was quite literally like an amusement park, but we spent the whole day waiting in line and once we got on the ride, the roller coaster stopped halfway through the ride.

Just wasn’t vibing with the writing style and how it would jump from person to person.

Ok. We took a bit to get going. Enough mystery to draw me in, but enough explanation for me to care. Spooked by the way that you know something is wrong but not enough to stop it.
