Although failed at my tandem read, I still suggest that you attempt it. It was difficult to balance and ultimately reading TOD was a bit of a struggle at times. The accelerated world building was difficult to process in contrast of the other continent having many books to develop the ins and outs.
The last third of TOD captivated me, the sudden discoveries and the connection between the books held me unable to put my book down until I finished it. The pieces are all set in place for a grand finale that will undoubtedly leave me wrecked and in tears. And I cannot wait.

This is probably the worst book in the series. Where to even start?
I don’t care about Nesryn Faliq. Her storyline adds more to the worldbuilding, sure. But I found myself rolling my eyes every time her POV popped up. I think my annoyance with her character can be chalked up to the fact that she’s allegedly been waiting for Chaol to get with her after multiple other woman have broken up with him. Female characters deserve better than being reduced down to a pining fool. She had 0 character growth imo.
Chaol’s story was interesting, but only because of Yrene Towers. I will admit I rolled my eyes when it’s revealed that Aelin met her in the novellas already. It’s too much of a coincidence after an entire series of coincidences. Their love story is interesting only because it’s more interesting than Nesryn. Even then I find myself disappointed with the colonizer/colonized pairing. I understand that Chaol has grown or whatever, but upon a few days of reflection, I’m a little grossed out that Yrene’s character growth is to not hate the colonizers (Andarlan) and treat everyone well. Meh.
