Is it a perfect book? Definitely not. I found some parts dragged a liiittle but I have the biggest book hangover I've had since QoS so that's gotta count for something. I'm glad I read it on its own in my first read through, I feel like the place in the story makes sense and it has such a distinct vibe from EoS (a book I liked a little less oop) that it was worth it to me. But I came into it already liking Chaol so I get the aversion, not to mention I understand how much people enjoy specifically reading about Aelin and her crew. To me it was almost like a palate cleanser and I loved the characters and relationships - I even thought the side characters were pretty interesting and would gladly read more about the southern continent. But I really loved the four central characters in the book and thought both plotlines were gripping.
I don't usually reread books, let alone series, but I absolutely would read this series again, and would maybe give the tandem read a try then. I can see the benefit of knowing the books' timelines directly instead of inferring from the details provided, though I didn't have too much trouble with that even though I took a few weeks break between EoS and ToD. Overall this is a tough call for QoS vs ToD being my favorite book in the series so far.

I have to be honest here, I skipped this book... (eek don't kill me) BUT after rereading the entire series again (this was before the release of Kingdom Of Ash), I had to give it a try! I am so happy I did, there is so much VITAL information in this book! If you guys are lazy asses like me who skipped Tower Of Dawn, go back and read it!
This was a good book and I really gave the reader insight into Chaol's perspective and views! Chaol is not one of my favourite characters but after this book, I understand him a bit more. Although at the start of the book, his light jabs about Aelin really got to me! (🤣) Honestly, I kind of wanted to rip his head off. (I am completely BIASED, and I am sorry to the Chaol fans who are offended) However, I LOVE that Chaol got to find his happiness!!! Yrene (SUCH A SHOCK FOR HER TO APPEAR) is such a good match and how CUTE are they together!!
Although, my highlight of this book was definitely Nesryn and Sartaq!! When we first meet Nesryn, she did not really make it into my top favourite lists of the characters. (Although let's be honest, Fenrys was probably number 1-3) Nesryn was in the background for me when I first met her. After reading Tower of Dawn, I would have liked to see more chapters of her and Sartaq! (Actually, I would like a WHOLE book on her 🤣) Loved Nesryn's perspective, and fanart of her and Sartaq is hard to find but the ones I managed to get are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Swooning here!!
People are entitled to their opinions and perspectives and I respect that, PLEASE no hate. (I really should not need to say this)
