After the multiple "plot twists" of this book, I feel like this series is trying a little too hard to be clever and deep. The reused plot elements (from the first book - searching for the killer) and the tendency to drag on lowered its rating for me. I feel kind of disappointed in this series...

Oh my gosh.... I finished that book filled with emotions I'm still trying to process like wtf. That ending broke my heart I love Aelin so much and I'm so happy my ships got together nicely finished. But he'll can Sarah shake things up. Book of healing check, book of suffering totally.
I thought I finally grasped the newly changed story line in empire of storms but nope, Sarah was like "this needs a little controversy and like no point getting comfortable in going to shake things up again." Like thanks Sarah appreciate it. This book was amazing can't wait for omg the last one of this precious series that is my life.
