My very first time reading a book where the protagonist is vegan! It was really nice to see some positive representation and an example of how vegan/omnivore relationships can work without tension. The tension came from elsewhere lol

For the most part I enjoyed this book, and the interactions between the main characters.

Wowee did Jen Morris ever add some spice and I am HERE FOR IT! This was such a good book and I feel like it was significantly stronger and more engaging the others in this series. Wow. I absolutely loved this book. Obviously you know it’s not perfect because 4 star review but I don’t even want to focus on that because regardless this book was super good.

the first half was really good, but then I didn't like it as much, the hero is a bit of an asshole sometimes in my opinion, while Josie is just too sweet and deserves the whole world

Josie moves from Austin to Manhattan for love. But when things don't turn out the way she thought, she's left jobless and without a boyfriend. She finds herself at the bar "Bounce" drinking her sorrows away when she meets Cory. Feeling bad for her, he offers her a job. Fast forward five years and Josie is the head bartender and spends her time off at the local dog shelter volunteering. When a pipe bursts, she has to foster a dog named Pretzel. But, when her apartment complex doesn't allow animals, Josie is found scrambling for somewhere to stay. Cory offers for her and Pretzel to stay with him but doesn't realize how hard it is for him to have Josie there. Cory and Josie have been secretly in love with each other for five years - without neither one of them knowing. When they are forced to live with each other, things become interesting very fast. Can Cory's past allow him to let Josie love him? Will Josie finally tell Cory how she feels?

I am having such a book hangover from this. This was the fourth book in the "Love in the CIty" series. This can be read as a stand-alone, but I am definitely going to be reading the other books as I was in love with Cory and Josie's relationship. I love how Cory realizes that he has to work on himself and his past demons in order to have a happy, and healthy relationship with Josie. Their communication was everything. I am not going to forget the SPICE in this too - holy hell. It gave me everything I needed and I'm bummed that the book is finished to be completely honest, lol. RUN, don't walk and go preorder this book if you're into steamy RomComs!

I really, really enjoyed this fourth book in indie author Jen Morris's Love in the city series! This story was a steamy, dual perspective, grumpy/sunshine, age gap, workplace romance full of heart that I couldn't put down. The book works well as a standalone but fans of the series will enjoy cameos from past characters.

Josie works as a bartender at Cory's bar and both have been fighting an attraction to one another for over five years!! When Josie needs a place to stay for her and her rescue dog Pretzel, Cory can't help offering his place. The forced proximity/roommate situation leads to some delicious open door scenes as these two give in to the electric chemistry that's been building.

Unfortunately, past traumas get in the way of their HEA and I really loved that this story normalized therapy and found Cory doing the work to heal his own emotional well being and Josie learned to stand up for herself, not just enabling her boyfriend like she had in the past.

Highly recommended, especially if you enjoy stories set in the city that feature rescue animals like You lucky dog by Julia London or What the cat dragged in by Kate McMurray. My pre-order for this one arrived early and I sped through it this weekend. And can I just say, my favorite cover of the series!
