A fantastic story about two distant cousins coming together to find Alec's father. Alec soon realises that Wellington is a hotspot of magical activity. Wizards have been disappearing including Alec's father.
The author has created a number of fantastic characters that are both relatable and easily imagined. As the story continues, the places and magical events are described brilliantly and originally, giving sway to imaginative storytelling.

Goodreads suggests that in lieu of reviews authors write short essays about the inspiration for your book - well here goes-

When my children were very little we would explore some of the magic places in Wellington, the cablecar, the botanic gardens, Eastbourne, Seatoun, the waterfront, finding "map rocks" on both sides of the harbour, pitted with holes and lines for streets.

The first ideas were written down, but they were more of an actual guide for Wellington than a story.

And then LOTR came - and went.

And the manuscript got revised

And then a whole city was created in Seaview, and we would wander along a little sidepath along the fence and watch crazy colours being painted on the buildings, all the old fashioned cars, the theatre itself...

and the manuscript got revised

But when the Hobbit was announced.
That was it.
That was the deadline.

More magic was coming to Wellington - and you know it's important that the next generation understands everything is not exactly as it seems. Yes there are red carpet events happening in Wellington, but they are just "bleed through" from the real magic that is Wellingtowne city.

So beware the coterie,(as Bruce Mason warned in “Omens and Portents.” His ominous hint has been immortalised on the on the Wellington City Council’s Writers Walk.) And come with me on an adventure to one of the most magical cities in the world.
