Instantly bought the second book. This is so unhinged in the best way, I am almost unsure if I just read a real book. The most fascinating part of all of this was (without giving too much away) that the main character has many versions of themselves and the writing style changes according to that. It adapts over time as well and it is hilarious, exciting, scary, marvellous. Can't wait to read the second part.

I did not care for this at all. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the polyamorous relationship.

 The plot for me just wasn’t there. There was some body dysmorphia but for the most part the Gem knew who they were.

The whole infighting between the characters also just seemed… so out of place because of how easily they seemingly forgave each other. Though I suppose based on the ending they didn’t really forgive each other.

Content warning is word for word what was stated in the audio book but it sounds a lot worse than what I felt it was, especially in reference to the graphic warnings excluding the violence and murder as there is a lot of physical fighting

This was a fantasy YA novel with a nonbinary, trans, Indigenous, polyamorous main character. I was really excited about the diversity. But somehow the book still missed the mark a bit and it took me a while to finish.

How are most of the reincarnated gods all located within the same tiny town in the middle of nowhere Georgia?

Edgmon does it again, my trans king bringing the queer chaos. Absolutely phenomenal. I support queer rights, and queer wrongs, and this is full of both. Trans folks [especially nonbinary] will definitely find something they identify with in this magnificent work of fantasy.
