Thursdays with the Crown felt like a book. It was not particularly good or particularly bad. I liked learning a little more about the castle's history. The characters were cute. but they lacked the spark they had in the first two books. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't as interesting plot wise as book two had been or as whimsical as book one was. I am still hopeful for book four and five though.

This book was wonderful. I love getting to know the characters better with each book. And of course the writing is excellent. This book picked up from the cliffhanger ending of the previous book. And it ended with hints at the future. I look forward to reading the next book once it comes out.

A cute continuation of the story. Would have loved some deeper dives into the history, but maybe we’ll get that in later books. Great for a younger audience and enjoyable for those that liked the first books

I have not read the first two books in this series. So you might ask than why would I jump right in and check out book three. It is because I had a chance to read book three and since I have been seeing this book all over I thought I would not pass up the chance to read this book and see what this series is about. I am always on the hunt for more books for my nephews to read. I think reading for children is important and I want them to enjoy reading like I do.

First off, while I have not read the prior novels, I had no problems jumping right into this book and I don't think my nephews will have a problem either. This is because the author did a good job of making this story progress and not reference to the past events too much. The wording in this book is nice as well. There are not too big of words and it flows easy. So the younger readers can read this book on their own with little assistance. Celie, her friends and siblings were a fun bunch. They helped keep things entertaining. Rufus was awesome. I can just see my nephews wanting their own griffiths. Now that I have gotten a taste for this series, I will have to check out the prior novels.

My rating:3 out of 5 stars

"Thursdays with the Crown," an interesting installment in the "Castle Glower," series. In this third book the secrets of Castle Glower are revealed. I the revelations were surprising and the ending wasn't predictable. Based on what happened and what was revealed, I think the next two books will be really interesting.

My favorite thing about this book, though, is that we go to know the character Lulath better. He is a much more complex character than he seems on the surface!

While I did like how unpredictable this book was and the character archs of the main cast, I didn't like everything about this book. I thought the villians were kinda weak. I defintely prefered the villians from the previous two books!
I also thought this pacing was a little off. Some moments were kinda boring and others were too quick.

Overall, my feelings about this book are mixed. I will continue this series, though!

This is a fun series that I've been meaning to finish for approximately a decade, not because it's not good but because I'm easily distracted. There are only two more books, so hopefully I will finish it soon.

Am I the only one who reached the end of Wednesdays in the Tower and was outraged by where it ended? I doubt it. (I actually know I'm not because I saw the look on my daughter's face when she got there.) Well, for all of us who have been waiting to know what on earth was going on and how that was going to resolve itself, the wait is finally over. Thursdays with the Crown is here.

If you haven't read the first two Castle Glower books, read those before reading this.

I have loved this series so much from the very beginning. It has all of the elements I want in a fantasy: intrigue, adventure, siblings. Throw in baby griffins and a magical castle with secrets and I'm as happy as can be. This volume maintains all the charm and fun of the first two books, while adding another level of intrigue and mystery in the land where Castle Glower originated. Here there is still a war going on that the griffins are caught in the middle of and Celie and her companions get bound up in it as well. In order to get back home they must unlock the secrets of the castle and join forces to figure out what's gone terribly wrong in the land it came from.

Celie continues to be a delightful and interesting heroine. She is less of an active force in this adventure as she and her siblings and friends find themselves with not enough information to be in a position to take much action. But when those opportunities present themselves, Celie rises to the occasion as always. I enjoyed watching the interactions between her and the other characters and the changing dynamics between some of them. There are a few new characters that are added as well. Then there are the other griffins, which are a wonderful bonus!

I think anyone who has enjoyed the first two books in the series will be delighted by this one. It ends in a way that makes me think this series is over, but I certainly wouldn't mind having more.

ETA: YES THERE WILL BE MORE! The lovely people at Bloomsbury informed my on Twitter today that this is not the end. There is much rejoicing in the Painter home from both Bit and me at the news.

I read an e-galley provided by the publisher, Bloomsbury USA Children's, via NetGalley. Thursdays with the Crown has a release date of October 7th.

I am devastated to report that I skimmed this book. I know that I missed out on something awesome, because these books are always fantastic. I did miss seeing the Castle - the characters were traveling elsewhere. I skimmed this book because of the circumstances. (I read this on a plane, so there were many distractions.) I will definitely come back to this one someday and enjoy it fully!
