I have a lot to say about this book, but for now it’s just that Jennifer’s done a great job taking the story of the inheritance to the next level. This was full of games that had unpredictable twists and turns, making the reading experience fun and very thrilling. Reading this story is like walking through a fun house. You never know what to expect: a mirror, a dead end, or a new path towards the truth. All these aside, I would just like to comment on how terribly written the love triangle between Jameson, Avery, and Grayson. The narrative was painted from the very beginning: Grayson didn’t stand a chance. It was never a fair game, he wasn’t given grounds to develop himself as a character given that he had so much potential. Avery and Jamie are truly compatible, it’s like they share the same mind, but the possibility of Avery and Gray made me think about all of the what-ifs he’s thought about. The spotlight was always on the first two; potential for Grayson Hawthorne was swept under the rug. But nevertheless, this story is a must-read for all those who seek the thrill.

This series is the definition of curve ball and somehow it always makes sense. There is no solving these books in advance. You, the reader, are definitely just along for the whirlwind ride, and yet they always keep me feeling engaged.
It takes forever to get to an answer but the pacing is done so well that the book never feels slow.
Once again, Jennifer Lynn Barnes has earned a gold star for dialogue. Every quip had me smiling. Every heartfelt confession tugged at my heart.
I don't know how the characters of Hawthorne House can be so mysterious and so loveable at the same time, but every one of them is thoroughly enjoyable.
Even though the story felt like it would have to leave loose ends, Barnes managed to wrap every mystery in a satisfying bow.
The plot may not be complex and the characters may not be the deepest you'll ever read, but I completely enjoyed every page of The Hawthorne Legacy and can't wait to dive in to book 3.

The second book in the Inheritance Games trilogy. A quick read and tons of fun. Onwards toward the third book!

Ahhh omg! This series sucks me in so much. I’m absolutely in love with this book and I enjoyed it more than the first one for sure. My brain can’t even comprehend everything I just read!

This book and series was a wild ride and it felt pretty wrapped up at the end so I’m excited to see what book 3 holds.

This one was so crazy! There was so much more action and I was very happy that most of the family no longer hated her.

Also just like Avery, my feelings were all over the place in the book. I was team Gray for so long but then I switched to Jamie and then back to Gray. I can’t decide 😭 I love them both.

For now, with the ending and the rest of the book I’m team Jameson and Grayson. But it may change next book. However, I think I already know how it’s gonna go down. Still love my Hawthorne boys though 🫶🏻

Overall I’m so excited for book 3 but a little nervous about what it entails. Also cannot wait for book 4 later this month.

SPOILERS ⬇️

Me literally waiting for Xander and Max to get together the whole book. I hope they are endgame but idk if I’m reading this wrong. But I’m still gonna hope for it 🤞

love that the stakes are high, the mystery is intense, and the relationships are messy, just like the first book. i ADORED that max finally appeared in person, i love her to pieces. the mystery itself is sliightly less exciting than in the first novel, just bc birth and family secrets are more typical drama than the original mystery of leaving a random girl a fortune, but i was still wholly engaged the entire time and i was right and wrong about things! i was SHOCKED by some things! i devoured this book in one go and i have no idea what could possibly be waiting in the last book, considering the end of this one felt kinda wrapped up, but with it only having been like two months since avery got her fortune it is still the beginning for her so im looking forward to reading the last book~

It really picked up since the first book and there were no boring moments. Still the same wattpad type of writing that bothered me here and there, but the plot was just too good to not look past it.
HOWEVER. SHE CHOSE THE WRONG BROTHER AT THE END AND IM MAD.
