I just finished reading 'The Coworker' and I do have a few things to say about Dawn's character. I didn't like her character so much. I get the part about getting revenge for her friend, but she was so obsessive about it, almost as obsessive as she was about turtles. In almost every POV there was a mention of her turtles and she even had a bookshelf full of them. A note I made while reading was: "How can somebody's whole personality consist of just turtles?" Lastly, who even eats monochromatic meals? That's a bit extra. I do feel bad though for how her boss treated her and belittled her and the suggestions she made for the company.

I would say that I liked the progression of the book and I got suspicious of Caleb early on, glad to hear I was right to be.

This book kept me hooked the ENTIRE time. I couldn't put it down. So many twists and turns I didn't expect

3.5/5. I feel like Freida’s books are getting predictable and repetitive. Gotta give her a break. But I love how short and quick her thrillers are.

This book was just so boring?

Turtles

Have you ever read a book, and thought, in a very Michael Scott voice: "Where are the turtles?!", well - do I have the book for you!

Dawn is a quiet, slightly quirky woman in the office whose obsession with turtles is unmatched. She also sticks to a very strict schedule, valuing promptness above most other things. So when Dawn doesn't show up to work one day, after sending some strange emails to her boss and her coworker, Natalie, it doesnt go unnoticed. Natalie takes the search a step further and goes to Dawn's house to check on her, only to find the makings of a crime scene. Dawn's disappearance quickly turns from looking for her alive to looking for a body. The first suspect on the list? Natalie, of course. The secrets uncovered during the investigation paint a very ugly picture - but is everything as it seems?

Turtles. Facts about turtles. Descriptions of turtles. Imagery of turtles. I think I could get a book on turtles and it would probably be less about turtles than this book - okay, maybe that's an exaggeration - but theres definitely a lot of turtleness in this book. Its turtle-y enough for the turtle club, that's for sure.

Dawn seemed like an autistic-coded character to me - her fascination and fixation, as well as her difficulty reading social cues had me wondering, although its never said. Maybe I'm wrong in that thinking, but that's how she appeared to me.

The twists were pretty good! One or two of them were definitely a bit more predictable than the others, but this was a solid Freida book! I loved the way this made me doubt things just enough while reading, second guessing my theories. I was definitely gripped from beginning to end!

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Freida fan but if I’m being honest this wasn’t even on my TBR list as I didn’t think I’d like it…. How wrong I was!!!

Instead of this one catching me completely off guard (it still did in some parts though!) it was more twists and turns that helped to develop the story and kept me guessing what and why the whole way through.

The complexity of Dawns character and the skin deep nature of Natalie’s character was just brilliant throughout.

I always find it difficult to write a full review for a thriller type of book as I don’t want to give away too much!

I would fully recommend this, if you love a good “who done it” book!
