I loved this book. Sethi was driven to walk the Pennines and write this book following a racially charged verbal assault on a train, and I’m so pleased she decided to continue to take up the space she so truly deserved. We join Sethi as she walks in some of the Northern Counties of England, we meet wonderful people, see beautiful sights but more importantly we meet Anita Sethi, we watch her confidence grow and her sense of belonging return to her home. Although this book centred largely on race, it still spoke to me as a women in the outdoors, who can be made to feel that I’m in a space reserved for white men. It made me want to stand up for those who are made to feel they do not belong, and sit down when it’s time to listen to their stories and ideas. Also, I want to walk the Pennine Journey now…
