I loved this book so much it was as great or better than the author's first series I like how he keeps the historical like setting but adds all kinds of interesting things to it. I loved the great cast of characters each unique in their own ways but I liked Cal most of all a smart yet very shrewd character he was interesting to read about he makes for a great character to read about he meshed well with the rest of the cast. The other characters of the group are as I said unique and add something interesting to the group. The plot was really interesting it starts with Callan and his want to get rid of scars so he can have a better life it moves onto telling of a heist that would get him a lot of money so he goes there meets a bunch of other kids finds out what they need to get after that the group looks for how to get it other things happen and many things go wrong but after awhile things go not so bad looking forward to reading more soon.

I honestly only picked this book because Robbie Daymond narrates it. It was enjoyable! I think I will end up continuing the series.

Rollicking. World-building is decent, characters are intriguing (especially Foxtail) and the plot zips along (despite a weird descent into backstory just before the climax which seemed ill-placed).

Într-o lume în care magia este deținută de țesătorii de vrăji - singurii care decid ce obiect și în ce măsură poate fi fermecat și dat omului de rând, o bună parte dintre copii suferă, fiind lipsiți de o casă a lor, o masă caldă și un adult responsabil alături. Dar sunt și acei copii care se maturizează devreme și învață să fure, devenind niște parteneri de afaceri nestatornici pentru adulții avizi după magie. Callan e un băiat ce poate fura orice și atunci când se trezește fără muncă, un individ misterios și puternic îi propune să comită un jaf care l-ar face pe Callan să câștige suficient cât să poată să se retragă din afaceri și să-și îndeplinească cea mai mare dorință. Deși Callan lucrează de obicei singur, este forțat să își unească forțele cu alți copii ce dețin calități îndoielnice, cum ar fi Meriel, specialistă în acrobații și aruncat cuțite, Gareth, obsedat de cărți despre care nu a auzit nimeni, Lachlan, un băiat cu un șarm aparte și Coadă de Vulpe, o fată ce nu-și dă niciodată masca jos, mișcându-se ca o umbră. Copiii vulpii de Kevin Sands este un volum antrenant, dinamic și cu o lume complexă. Originea magiei e foarte bine explicată, la fel și cum e construită societatea din care fac parte cei cinci copii, categoriile sociale și locul acestora, importanța țesătorilor și a obiectelor pe care aceștia le dețin.
Kevin Sands scrie foarte cinematografic și nici nu-ți dai seama cum zboară timpul citind această carte. Personajele sunt bine conturate, povestea fiecăruia e ingenios introdusă în narațiune, dialogurile sunt amuzante, pline de ironii abil plasate și sarcasm cât cuprinde. Cei cinci sunt firi foarte diferite, obișnuite să lucreze pe cont propriu, iar felul în care ajung să formeze o echipă mi-a plăcut enorm. Se completează reciproc, învață să colaboreze și să aibă încredere unul în celălalt și până la finalul romanului dinamica dintre cei cinci este una îmbucurătoare.
Personajele secundare și antagoniștii sunt creionați suficient de bine, se simte tensiunea în atmosferă atunci când protagoniștii se intersectează cu personajele negative, iar lumea din jur e abil construită, autorul reușind să transpună cu ușurință cititorul în universul acțiunii.
Dacă vă plac romanele pline de aventură, cu personaje care învață să se bazeze pe alții și să lupte împreună pentru un scop comun, dacă vă plac elementele de steampunk și magie în narațiune, vă recomand acest volum. Cu siguranță voi citi și continuarea.
