I LOVE DAVE. DAVE THE ORC. He's so genuine and honest. He does not know how to be anything but himself and there isn't an ounce of malice, deceit, or greed in his heart. He may not have more than three brain cells to rub together and only sorta understands what's going on at any given time but he's kind, empathetic, and caring.

Simon was a good fit for him. I reallllly loved the asexual representation in this book and the development of their relationship and realizing their feelings was so cute and sweet. Even though I could tell exactly where the book was going, I loved every sweet second of it and I got teary-eyed at the cuteness overload at the end.

If that's not enough to make you want to read, this book also has the most dragons! Multiple kinds of dragons! Dragon hatching! Dragon flying! Tiny finger sized dragons and cat sized dragons and big ass dragons! And a song about a dragon!

The character Millie was a great side character introduced to the series but I wish there was more done with her. I'm not sure if that means meeting her earlier in the series somehow or more likely having more of her in this book, but it felt like she was kind of an afterthought. Her character's background and the way she's adopted by the castle is fantastic but I wish it had been developed a bit more gradually or we got to see her interacting with the princes. Maybe if she had been introduced here and then the prince stuff comes into play more in a later book? Although the series seems completed so I guess that wasn't an option and everything was a bit rushed with her as a result.
