4.5 stars!

So, I knew I’d like this book, just as long as I was in the mood for a rom-com. After some changes in my professional life, well, that was exactly what I needed. Still, considering the reviews and the rating, I had high expectations for this one. Luckily, it pretty much met them!

”It finally happened.”
“What happened?”
“What you’ve been wishing on me all these years,” I whisper. “I fell in love.”

The entire story is from Drew’s POV, which made things interesting, because Drew Evans is exactly the kind of man your mother warned you about: a selfish manwhore whose ‘relationships’ consist only of one-night stands. He doesn’t lead women on, so he’s not necessarily a jerk, but he’s surely not relationship material. He’s also way too used to getting what he wants, at least until one night at a bar when a woman turns him down. He moves on quickly, but then that same woman shows up on Monday as the new hire at his investment banking firm. (I know, I know- trope alert). However, she quickly turns into a professional threat to Drew, and that’s when things get fun.

”We can’t stand each other. She’s a pill. I wouldn’t fuck her with a ten-foot dildo.”
Okay, that’s not true. I’d so fuck her. But I wouldn’t like it. Yeah- you’re right. That’s not true either.

Katherine Brooks was a great heroine. I found myself doubting Drew’s sincerity at times, but that actually worked because so did Kate. She was in a very long-term relationship when they met, which was why she shot him down even though they had instant chemistry. Kate definitely wasn’t some delicate flower. When they started competing in the workplace, she refused to back down, and I loved that about her. So did Drew, which helped negate some of his previously-earned scumbag points. But what sealed the deal was when he defended her against a creep during a business meeting. In spite of his extracurricular activities, Drew really did respect and value the strong women in his life, and that ended up making all the difference in the world. Because before I truly believed that, I found the fact that he would fall in love with someone like Kate somewhat far-fetched.

”I would never have a man that I didn’t know come to my apartment to pick me up for a first date.”
I push a hand through my hair. “That doesn’t make any sense. You know me. We did sixty-nine. I’d say you know me pretty damn well.”

So, yeah- once I bought into their connection, it was game on. It was just slow getting there, which is why this wasn’t a five star read for me. That being said, when Drew screwed up though (not terribly), he was man enough to admit it. He put on the full-court press, and I love a good grovel. Additionally, it didn’t bother me that he still did his thing when she was engaged to someone else. Finally, the pages flew by because it was hilarious. Drew’s relationship with his niece Mackenzie was amazingly sweet and funny (the swear jar) but mostly it was just Drew’s stream of consciousness that sealed the deal. If they’re all like this one, I really should read more male-POV only books!

Since word one, I knew I'd love this book.Emma Chase has the character, Drew's, voice so exact it's amazing. It's humorous and very "guy-like", it's exactly what a guy's thoughts would sound like. Right away, I fell in love with his characterization. Another spectacular way is the way he narrates--like he's directly talking to us. ("okay, let's freeze-frame here")

I wish I had a good review to give this book, but I really don't. just know the characterization is spot on, the book is friggin hilarious, and Drew as a narrator... I have never read anything funnier, truer or more real in my life. Wow!

One day, if I come up with better words for this, I'll review it.

Unfortunately the main character does not respect women. And he never learned to respect them by the end of the book. He only learned to respect the one woman he loved. Very hard to read that

Worst book I've read this year so far.
This is not a romance.
This is a feat boy podcast on the idea of being a cool, wealthy bachelor in the city.

This book was horrible. This character was insulting, patronising, condescending and plain rude to women. He was misogynistic, obnoxious and despicable.

After the 20th time of calling his sister, bitch, and comparing women to freaking TOOTHPASTE I couldn't take it anymore.

This was gross and should never have seen the light of day.

Hilarious, funny, both wickedly hot and adorable mood-booster, depression-vanquisher of a book!
I loved fresh and witty voice of the male MC, but my favourite character was definitely Mackenzi!
An awesome read - highly recommended!!!

This is the 1st book I've read from the male characters POV! I don't think I've ever laughed as much at a book as I did with this one. Brilliant book & the naughty bits! Wow!!! Seriously hot!

My very first DNF. I have tried for over a week to get into this book and it annoys me so much. I can’t stand the main character.
