This is an interesting, although often confusing read. It has a plot that heavily relies on time travel, and extra-dimensional concepts like Tesseracts. I read this book years ago, and I didn't get most of it. My recent reread actually made a lot more sense. I do not know if this is because of rereading, or just because I myself have changed. I have to dock some points for the initial confusion, but in the end it was a pretty good read. This was also the first Titan book written after they decided on a canon design for the Luna Class, and it shows. Not only is she proudly featured on the cover, and a centre fold-out, the author also heavily references it within the body of the text. Having a visual to go along really helps. That top pod is heavily used, and they even explain why it wasn't in previous books. This is the final Titan book before the events of Destiny, so it will be a while before I return to the titan series, but I really enjoy it so far!

From all the four books I've read so far, I enjoyed this the least. It felt poorly explained in terms of how the whole plot could take place. The author didn't manage to give plausible explanations for the science involved. And I feel that the characters didn't evolve through the events in the book. Instead, the author had the chance to kill another main character for no apparent reason.
If you can and want, skip this book because you will not lose much

Felt like filler, but pretty good filler, even if I liked some prior entries better.

3.5/5 I do appreciate a good oroboros angle.

This series frustrates me so. I want so badly to love it. Riker, Troi & Tuvok are among my very favorite Star Trek characters. Unfortunately the Titan series is just a dud. These familiar characters often take the back seat toa ridiculous menagarie of alien characters. Everytime I get to a line about Torvig the robotic ostrich boy or Hulian the tiny blue Carebear it just completely takes me out of the story. It's too much, I mean for heaven's sake the doctor is a T-Rex or whatever. Blah. I'm going to stick with it a little longer just in case they begin to even out. I have my doubts though.
I found this story in particular to be dull and uninteresting. The whole time-travel premise could have really been something. Instead it was uneven and confusing. And really, they were captured by giant bugs? Come on. So annoying. Here's hoping the series can get on track for future installments.

This series is wonderful. Renews the spirit of Trek, and is satisfying for long-time fans and newcomers.
